Not sure how to describe this, but my boat had a 25 hp Yamaha on it when in the lot. To get it to a price we could handle West Marina put a 2001 9.9 4-cycle Evinrude on. It works great and I'm happy with the boat.

<br />The only thing that is a problem is that the throttle has 2 notches (?) before it goes to a smooth increase in rpm. In the first notch we are too slow to troll and in the second we are too fast. I have to hold the throttle between the notches and that's a bummer. There must be some way that this can be changed. I like to troll at about 2mph.

Sounds to me like you might need to invest in a new control box. First, I would check the motor and see if the &quot;notches&quot; are in the controls or at the carb. Could be a simple fix depending on what is causing it to have the &quot;notches&quot;.
